5 Activities You Didn’t Know You Could Do in a Swim Spa

5 Activities You Didn’t Know You Could Do in a Swim Spa

If you didn’t already know, a Swim Spa is a two-in-one swimming pool and hot tub, and it’s revolutionizing exercise and relaxation. Ranging in length between 12 and 19 feet, Swim Spas can be used by the whole family. Or, if you’d rather keep it to yourself, that’s okay too.

Swim Spas are endless pools that combine powerful jets with plenty of room so you can swim laps without actually swimming laps (AKA who needs to turn when you can swim in a forever-straight line?). Once you’ve beat your personal record, you can sit back and relax with hydrotherapy jets to massage your muscles after your workout. It’s the best of both worlds! But that’s not all you can do in a Swim Spa. Surprised? We’ve got news for you: the possibilities are endless. (Like your pool!)

1. Water Walking

You know, you don’t have to swim in your swim spa. With the jets on a low setting, your Hydropool swim spa becomes a water treadmill so you can walk with less impact, and slight resistance to strengthen your legs. Add water weights to your workout for an upper-body exercise while you walk.

 2. Canoeing, Kayaking, or Paddle Boarding*

If you’re a big fan of row, row, rowing your boat, guess what! You can practice your kayaking and canoeing skills in your swim spa. Just grab a boat or board and an oar or two, adjust your speed, and get going! You’ll be a master in no-time.

*If Paddle Boarding is your go-to water activity, we suggest you remain seated; standing in your swim spa can be dangerous.

3. Body Surfing

Attach a rope or cord to connect your surf board to the front of your Hydropool swim spa, and hold on tight! Turn up the speed and watch your friends and family hang on for endless fun. You can also tie an inner tube or a knee board to your swim spa to brush up on your skills before showing off your mastered talents at your next lakeside retreat.

4. Strength and Resistance Training

Each Hydropool swim spa comes equipped with small attachments on both ends so you can connect bands, ropes, and cords for your various water activities and aerobic exercises. With the jets turned off and resistance bands attached, you can choose from a plethora of different workouts to help strengthen your arms and legs. Exercising in the water adds another level of resistance and ensures you’re getting both your strength and cardio workouts in. The buoyancy of the water also takes away a lot of the impact you would get in a regular workout, saving your knees in the long-run.

5. Lazy River Inner-Tubing

Just because you can exercise in a swim spa, doesn’t mean you have to. Hydropool’s self-cleaning swim spas create a circular jet cycle. You know what that means. Set yourself up in your favorite inner tube and let the jets push and pull you around your swim spa for a make-shift lazy river! Grab a book, set the jets to a slow speed, and relax as you float around your swim spa.

This is just the beginning! Hydropool swim spas are incredibly versatile when it comes to water activities; if you can think it, you can do it. For more information on Hydropool swim spas, go to our website: www.aquaquip.com/swimspas

Use your Noodle!

Use your Noodle!

If you’re anything like me, you love golf, but your golf swing looks a little like this.

But not all hope is lost! We found a fun new way to better your golf swing by using something that anyone with a pool already has floating in his or her backyard: a pool noodle.

PGA senior instructor Greg Greksa has added “fixing your golf swing” to the extensive list of things you can do with a pool noodle. All you need is a pool noodle and a piece of conduit to help you go from feeling like this…

to feeling like this…

You go, Phil.

First thing’s first. Simply place a conduit in the ground at an angle and put the pool noodle on it. For the correct angle, get into a comfortable swing position and make sure the top of your head touches the pool noodle.

Why are we going out of our way to look ridiculous, you ask? Well, the pool noodle acts as a guide to keep your head from coming up or moving too much when you swing. By keeping your head steady, you can achieve a smoother and more accurate golf swing. Who’d have thought that you could use your noodle for your noodle?

Don’t have a pool noodle? Feel free to swing by any of our Aqua Quip locations to get one!

Sunshield Stabilizersaltscapes saltwater pool stabilizing cleaner

Did you know the salt cells in your saltwater swimming pool generate unstable chlorine that weakens under UV rays? SaltScapes™ Stabilizing system protects your chlorine, helping it last longer. Just make sure your pool is at a minimum 30ppm when you pour it in, and test your stabilizer monthly.

pH Reducersaltscapes ph reducer for saltwater swimming pools

SaltScapes™ ph Reducer works to protect your saltwater pool’s surface by lowering the pH to it’s ideal range. Safer to use and store than other leading chemicals, all you need to do is pour the bottle into the deep end of your pool while not in use, let it sit for at least two hours, and then you’re good to go!

Cell Cleanersaltscapes cell swimming pool saltwater wall cleaner

Due to the salty levels of your pool, calcium-scale deposits start forming on your pool walls. SaltScapes™ Cell Cleaner will make your pool cleaner and prettier in just 30 minutes.

Use the Scale Defender with the cell cleaner to get great results! The SaltScapes™ Scale Defender binds to the calcium crystals and keeps them from clustering together on your pool’s surface. Use it monthly to get the best results.

Shock Oxidizersaltscapes saltwater swimming pool cleaner

The SaltScapes™ Shock Oxidizer eliminates contaminants like sweat and sunscreen in your pool without creating that stinky chlorine smell. Just one bottle can treat up to 20,000 gallons of saltwater! That’s a lot. For best results, use once a week and pour it into the deep-end while the pump is running in the morning. You’ll be loving your clean, dirt and odor-free swimming pool.

Algae Treatmentsaltscapes-algae-remover

Despite continuously being chlorinated, saltwater pools can still be exposed to blooming algae. The SaltScapes™ Algae Remover is formulated to clean all surfaces and filter types with results in as little as 24 hours. In order to consistently maintain your pool, use the Algae Remover weekly as a preventative product.

SaltScapes™ Test Stripssaltscapes-test-strips

Just like a traditionally chlorinated pool, the water levels in your saltwater pool needs to be tested 2-3 times per week. Since salt and chlorine are independent of each other, SaltScapes™ Test Strips help to ensure correct salt levels to guarantee the best swimmer comfort, protection, and sanitizer efficiency. Then, don’t forget to check with your local BioGuard dealer to schedule a water sample test every 4-6 weeks.
